About

CONTINUOUSLY SERVING THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY SINCE 1836.

Hollins Market is a historic public market in Southwest Baltimore that has been continuously serving the surrounding community since 1836. Baltimore Heritage, Baltimore’s historic and architectural preservation organization, recently featured Hollins Market in a 5 Minute History.

The market is operated by the Baltimore Public Markets Corporation (BPMC) on behalf of Baltimore City. Hollins Market was first built by private individuals and later came under city ownership. BPMC was created in the mid-1990s as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to managing the public markets and bringing healthy food to neighborhoods across the city.

Phase I of the Hollins Market redevelopment project was completed in 2019 with restoration of the exterior of the market shed building.

Phase II of the Hollins Market redevelopment project includes the reconstruction of seven stalls in the market shed. Construction began in May 2023 will conclude in Spring 2024.
